Lloydminster Casinos Online, Either Side

Gold Horse Casino sits on 41st Street in the Saskatchewan half of a city split between two provinces; Lloydminster Casinos, an independent city-desk guide, covers it. The split screen shows the rules of each province, and the casino follows Saskatchewan's.

The line

On the Saskatchewan Side

Gold Horse Casino stands at 3910 41st Street, Lloydminster, on the Saskatchewan side of the city. The building sits along the Yellowhead Highway, on Little Pine First Nation land within the City of Lloydminster. That location answers the question of whose rules apply inside. Saskatchewan rules apply at the door, whichever province a guest drives in from.

The casino calls Lloydminster Canada's only border town and says it serves both Alberta and Saskatchewan. Those are its own words. The clock does not change at the line. Because all of Saskatchewan holds to Central Standard Time (UTC-6) in every season, its clocks never differ from Alberta's. The hours below read the same from either side.

At the door

Alberta 18, Saskatchewan 19

Alberta sets its legal gambling age at 18. Staff at any Alberta casino must ask anyone who looks under 25 to show valid government-issued photo ID. On the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster the minimum is 19, because The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act, 1997 treats anyone under 19 as a minor. Casinos and PlayNow.com in the province are 19+.

No winnings can go to anyone under 19, whom SIGA rules class as a prohibited individual. For an 18-year-old from the Alberta side, the answer follows from that rule. A legal age at home does not carry across the line. At Gold Horse Casino, that reader counts as a prohibited individual until turning 19. The age check below answers the question for each reader.

Whose rule at the door?

Enter an age and where you live. The Alberta rule stays on screen for comparison; the Saskatchewan rule is the one that applies.

Going for
  • Saskatchewan: 19 is the legal gambling age, and at SIGA casinos anyone younger counts as a prohibited individual and is barred from collecting winnings.
  • Alberta: the age is 18, but that rule applies in Alberta casinos, not at this door.
  • SIGA Voluntary Self-Exclusion and Game Break cover all Saskatchewan casinos, this one included.
  • All events are 19+; everyone staying in an RV on the lot must be 19 or older.

Wood, metal and glass make up the interior, a design inspired by the local oil and gas industry. A single loyalty club, SIGA Rewards, covers all seven SIGA casinos; its four tiers are Emerald, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. The same card is needed to register an RV at Guest Services.

Since 2018

Open Since 2018

Gold Horse Casino opened in December 2018 as the seventh casino of the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA). SIGA runs it in partnership with Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS). SIGA describes itself as a First Nations, non-profit organization that reinvests all net proceeds in Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan has nine permanent casinos: the seven SIGA casinos plus Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw.

LGS, a Crown corporation, oversees all lotteries and gaming in the province. It has held full conduct and management powers since June 1, 2023. A different body, the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA), handles regulation. Net profits of SIGA casinos are split three ways. The First Nations Trust takes 50%, Community Development Corporations take 25%, and the last 25% lands in the province's General Revenue Fund.

Online and help

Online, Province by Province

Online rules depend on the province a person is in. PlayNow.com, which SIGA operates, is Saskatchewan's sole legal platform for online gaming. It launched in the province in November 2022, and SIGA's online exclusivity was extended to September 2029. On July 13, 2026, a regulated market for online gaming opened in Alberta. Registered sites are listed at abigaming.ca, and only players physically located in Alberta may play on them.

The home page of this guide has paid links, each labelled Ad. Each one points to a privately owned online casino partner rather than to any provincial site in Alberta or Saskatchewan. Neither province runs, approves or licenses it. A commission is paid to the guide by this partner, which may change.

Help on Both Sides

  • The Saskatchewan Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-306-6789, is the number the casino gives and offers free, confidential help 24 hours a day.
  • Residents on the Alberta side of Lloydminster with a gambling problem can phone 1-866-332-2322 for the Addiction Helpline (Recovery Alberta), staffed at all hours, free and confidential.
  • Any SIGA casino accepts requests for SIGA Voluntary Self-Exclusion, a ban from all of Saskatchewan's nine casinos lasting 6 months to 5 years.
